March 8, 2010. U.S. troops begin withdrawing from Haiti

U.S. troops are withdrawing from Port-au-Prince, according to local media on March 8th, leaving UN peacekeepers and local police in charge of humanitarian efforts. At the peak, there were some 20,000 U.S. troops in Haiti in February, but authorities say the total will drop to about 8,000 in coming days.
